{"id":191,"date":"2022-08-08T11:56:46","date_gmt":"2022-08-08T11:56:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.sensa.health\/?p=191"},"modified":"2024-01-23T08:32:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-23T08:32:29","slug":"beating-procrastination-without-breaking-the-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sensa.health\/blog\/beating-procrastination-without-breaking-the-bank\/","title":{"rendered":"Beating Procrastination Without Breaking the Bank"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What comes to mind when you think about your commitments?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do you wonder if you\u2019ll have the energy to complete them?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are you stressed about the time constraints?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maybe you simply don\u2019t want to get them done.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You, my friend, <\/span><b>could be a procrastinator<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><b>&nbsp;<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Procrastination isn\u2019t a fixed problem \u2013 it fluctuates and can have very different effects and symptoms depending on each person.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are some classic styles, however.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s look into them.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"the-six-styles-of-procrastination\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The six styles of procrastination<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We can break down procrastination into six distinct styles. These are:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The perfectionist<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The dreamer<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The worrier<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The crisis-maker<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The defier&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The overdoer&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s take a look at them in some more detail.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The perfectionist<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The perfectionist is reluctant to begin or end a task, as they usually don\u2019t want anything to be less than flawless.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The perfectionist pays attention to detail \u2013 too much attention. Instinctively, you\u2019d think a perfectionist wouldn\u2019t be a procrastinator, but that\u2019s not true. They <\/span><b>pay so much attention to detail<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that they often can\u2019t overlook the little things and finish projects.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The dreamer<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The dreamer isn\u2019t a fan of details, making their ideas quite challenging to implement.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They have thoughts about extraordinary things, but somehow the details just don\u2019t matter to them; they should be dealt with by someone else. As such, <\/span><b>their thinking style is pretty muddled, and they procrastinate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ideal attitude toward work should be between these two styles, perfectionist and dreamer. Paying attention to details is essential, but nothing has to be 100% perfect all the time. Well, unless you\u2019re building an aircraft.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What\u2019s next, I hear you say?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The worriers<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The worriers have a disproportionate, almost instinctive need for security \u2013 this causes them to be greatly afraid of risk.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They fear change, causing them to avoid completing projects so <\/span><b>they don\u2019t need to leave their comfort zone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The worrier is so anxious that they ask themselves many \u201cwhat if\u201d questions. They\u2019re cautious people, and because of that, they are quite afraid to step down and do what needs to be done.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Worriers tend to spend a lot of time thinking about their tasks and feeling anxious about them.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The crisis-maker<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following style, the crisis-maker, is addicted to the adrenaline of living on the edge of jeopardy.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The crisis-maker tells themself that they work best under pressure.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The crisis-maker, who sits on the other end of the scale compared to the worrier, tells themself they work best under pressure. So they wait, and wait, until the last minute \u2013 and often they pull it off.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unfortunately, they pull it off with a lot of discomfort, and <\/span><b>the work is, generally, not as good as it could be<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It\u2019s not really the best way to live life.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re doing this during your school or college years, it only affects you. You\u2019re young; you can pull these all-nighters without much issue.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But if you get used to that lifestyle, it creeps its way into adulthood, which begins to affect other people too, causing much more severe consequences.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just two more to go.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The defier<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next up \u2013 the defier.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The defier is a rebel, always seeking to <\/span><b>bend the rules and do things their way<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By procrastinating, they set their own schedule and attempt to remain in control of things.
