I\u2019m a 30-year-old graphic designer. And I was so. Damn. Stressed.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As far back as I can remember, at least in my adult life, I\u2019ve suffered from stress and generalized anxiety.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was never a moment for me that triggered this \u2013 maybe I was just born with it.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being a worrier and overthinker came naturally to me, and at times I even prided myself in my ability to dig deep and find the most minor problems. I thought it helped me in my career \u2013 being so attentive to details.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I was wrong, of course, but I learned that much later.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"the-beginning-of-the-end\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The beginning of the end<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It started on a typical, boring Wednesday.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I went into the office like I always do, had my morning coffee, chatted with my colleagues, and got to work.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But that didn\u2019t happen, the work part, I mean.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I just sat there.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Staring at the screen, trying to make things make sense in my head. But\u2026 they didn\u2019t.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suddenly it felt as though everything I knew had been scooped out of my brain and thrown in the trash.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I felt like I was having a panic attack.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I wasn\u2019t, it turns out; I was just <\/span><b>scared<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I got up and went to the kitchen for some cold water, maybe I was just really dehydrated.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then I caught a glimpse of myself in the reflective metal of the microwave.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I looked drained.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not drained like \u201cOh there goes Olivia, she\u2019s been working hard, bless her\u201d \u2013 drained like \u201cOh there goes Olivia, we should probably call her an ambulance.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I immediately went to my manager and explained how I felt, and luckily for me, she was completely understanding and said I should go to the doctor to figure out what was going on.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"the-first-sign-of-trouble\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first sign of trouble<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I called my GP and headed over as soon as an appointment was available.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the first look at me, he asked, \u201cHave you been sleeping much?\u201d \u2013 I answered that, yes, the same as always, not a huge amount, just a solid 4\u20135 hours per night.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He raised his eyebrow.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4\u20135 hours per night was indeed the norm for me, but apparently, this wasn\u2019t enough. Clearly, I mean, I looked like a ghost.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He quickly understood that physically there were no underlying health issues.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, he did refer me and strongly urged me to visit a psychiatrist.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, I did.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the first meeting and many discussions, I was diagnosed with generalized stress and anxiety with insomnia.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But there was a catch \u2013 I was prescribed medication to combat this.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don\u2019t get me wrong, I\u2019m not an anti-vaxxer terrified of science, but I prefer to treat things as naturally as possible.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, you can probably tell that the idea of medication didn\u2019t sit particularly well with me.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I gave it a shot, though. It was a recommendation from a medical professional, so who was I to question it?&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And if it meant I\u2019d go back to feeling relaxed, sleeping well, and not looking like a ghost, I was all for it.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"a-temporary-fix\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A temporary fix<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The medication did help me.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But only to a certain extent, and unfortunately, I suffered some unpleasant side effects.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My mouth was always dry, I\u2019d feel light-headed and a little nauseous in the mornings.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I was sleeping more, but I felt no more rested.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So I started seeking an alternative to the medication that would allow me to continue feeling better without the adverse effects.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s when I discovered the plethora of mental health improvement apps available.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I stumbled across an online forum where people discussed such things and saw a recommendation for an app called Sensa.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The forum user seemed to have very good things to say about it, so I figured I\u2019d check it out.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I went onto the website and completed the quiz, and the results lined up exactly with how I felt.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drained, tired, stressed, anxious.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am she, she is me.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So I bought the plan since it was really well-priced, even cheaper than my monthly prescription for meds \u2013 let alone the cost of the therapist visits.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"the-light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The light at the end of the tunnel<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within a matter of weeks, I\u2019d stopped taking the medication, and my condition was improving to no end.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I felt energized, ambitious, and well-rested.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even my psychiatrist quizzed me on my progress and was shocked to hear that I\u2019d stopped taking the medication \u2013 considering how much better I was feeling.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My advice to you is simple.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have ever felt, or currently feel, the way I did \u2013 there is a way out.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s not expensive, it\u2019s not time-consuming, and it\u2019s <\/span><b>nothing <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to be ashamed of.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your mental well-being is everything \u2013 don\u2019t let yourself reach the bottom before starting to climb out.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Try Sensa by taking the quiz below \u2013 you won\u2019t regret it!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sleep is a big deal.&nbsp; I wouldn\u2019t wish the kind of insomnia I had on anybody.
